Innvoicing Data in Vantage
You'll see at least two workspaces in Vantage, each designed to address different aspects of your Azure cost management:
StreamOne | Innvoicing Data Workspace
This workspace imports data directly from our invoicing system via API and displays your complete financial picture. It shows:
All Azure pay-as-you-go costs
Azure reservation costs (Reserved Instances and Savings Plans)
Your total invoiced amounts
This ensures you can see exactly what you're being charged, providing full transparency into your Azure spending. However, this workspace has limitations: it cannot filter costs by individual resources or provide the granular detail needed for optimization analysis.
<Customer Name> | Regular Azure Workspace
This workspace connects directly to Azure and provides detailed operational cost analysis. Here you can:
Filter costs by specific resources, tags, services, and regions
View granular, resource-level breakdowns
Access Vantage's cost optimization recommendations
Analyze spending patterns at a detailed level
The trade-off is that this workspace excludes reservation costs. This is due to a limitation in Azure's Graph API within Cloud Service Provider (CSP) environments, which prevents fetching reservation data for Reserved Instances and Savings Plans. This limitation affects all cost visualization tools, not just Vantage.
Why Both Workspaces?
Reservation costs represent a significant part of your total Azure spend, yet they cannot be retrieved through Azure's standard APIs in CSP environments. Without visibility into reservations, you lack complete cost transparency.
The StreamOne | Innvoicing Data Workspace solves the transparency problem by importing invoicing data directly, showing your full costs including reservations.
The <Customer Name> | Regular Azure Workspace solves the optimization problem by providing the detailed, filterable data you need to identify cost saving opportunities.
Together, these two workspaces ensure you have both complete visibility into what you're paying and the detailed insights needed to optimize your Azure environment.
