Anthropic Models on Bedrock

Current Situation

On October 14th, 2025, AWS implemented an unannounced change that blocks resellers from providing Anthropic Claude models through AWS Bedrock. As an AWS reseller, Playground Tech received this information the same day the block was applied.

To lift this restriction, Anthropic requires AWS resellers to become authorized Anthropic resellers. Anthropic's requirement to even be considered for their authorized reseller program starts with a $2M ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) pipeline — a threshold Playground Tech does not currently meet.

As a result, we are unable to provide direct access to Anthropic Claude models through AWS Bedrock for customers within our Cloud Management Program. We understand this is frustrating, especially for customers who have been waiting for access to these models.

Available Workarounds

While we monitor this situation and pursue any opportunity to resolve it, there are several alternatives you can consider:

Option 1: Direct Anthropic API

You can create an account directly with Anthropic and build your services using their API.

Option 2: Separate AWS Account

You can create a standalone AWS account outside your current organization to access Bedrock and Anthropic models independently.

  • Create a new AWS account that is not part of your existing AWS Organization

  • Enable Bedrock and request access to Anthropic models directly

  • Note: This account will not be managed through Playground Tech's Cloud Management Program

Option 3: Alternative Foundation Models

AWS Bedrock offers several other foundation models that may suit your needs. Based on our internal experience, we have seen competitive price-performance from alternative models available in Bedrock.

  • Explore other foundation models available in AWS Bedrock

  • Consider your specific use case requirements when evaluating alternatives

  • Contact us if you would like guidance on model selection

Exception Requests

Anthropic does offer the possibility to request per-use-case exceptions to their authorization requirements. If you would like us to submit an exception request on your behalf, please contact us through our support channels.

Important expectations:

  • There is no guaranteed outcome for exception requests

  • There is no defined timeline for responses

  • The process provides no ability to provide feedback during review

  • We will get notified if the exception is approved and will reach out to you accordingly

Our Commitment

Playground Tech is committed to supporting your AI and machine learning initiatives. We are:

  • Monitoring developments with Anthropic's authorization program

  • Continuing discussions with AWS and Anthropic to find solutions

  • Ready to assist you in evaluating alternative approaches

  • Committed to updating you as the situation evolves

For questions or to discuss your specific needs, please reach out through our support channels.
